ABOUT
Hello, I’m Laurie, Trauma Informed Yoga, Meditation, Qigong Teacher and Owner of Sage Yoga Studio in Belper.
My passion is Yoga for Mental Health and creating an inclusive, non judgemental, safe space for for those looking to ease the stress and tensions of modern day living. My teaching style incorporates a fusion of different traditions and philosophies, focusing on embodiment practices, Five Element Theory and the cycles of nature to bring us back to a place of wholeness and balance. I interweave knowledge of different traditions and modality trainings in yoga, qigong and mindfulness to offer a unique form of therapeutic, mindful somatic movement practice designed to empower an individual with accessible and sustainable skills and tools needed to embrace the journey back home towards autonomy and realising their own true potential.
We opened our doors to our community in September 2018 with the vision of creating a friendly, non-intimidating and supportive environment for anyone wanting to explore the practice of authentic yoga. Our space has provided a haven of calm and safety for many students wanting to re-connect, breathe and grow as an individual and as part of a like-minded community. Five years on and despite world events we have grown into a supportive community of teachers and practitioners. We work together with the aim of cultivating compassion, kindness and deeper connection to ourselves and each other with a view to creating positive ripples out into the local community and beyond.
My own journey into Yoga began with a class taken over 20 years ago. The teacher awakened a deep sense of curiosity and a longing to know more. I began to attend regular classes and dive deeper into my own journey of self discovery. I was introduced to a meditation teacher who would totally change the trajectory and purpose of my life through the imparting of their wisdom and transformative teachings.
